Wow! What an outcome! I honestly thought the numbers would be closer. What an amazing race, what a monumental step forward for our country in the eyes of the world. I think we have an exciting four years to come and I hope that President Obama can effect even a small fraction of the change he wants to. These are exciting times, folks!
Honestly, I was in tears watching the news. This is just such a huge step forward for this country. I tried to make the kids understand just how big this is but I just couldn’t put it in to words. I tried putting things in perspective by telling them it wasn’t that long ago that we were fighting segregation or not allowing women or African Americans to vote and now we have an African Americans president! Obama’s opening of his acceptance speech really summed it up though…
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”
