Wanted to share this great solstice greeting from my friend and mentor (though she may not know it, and isn’t that the best kind of teacher?), Shahara…
Hark! The Herold, faeries singing
Fair thee well the new Sun King
Sleep the longest night so deeply
Waken to the Solstice sun.
Winters here, yet darkness dwindles
Splinter wood, our fire kindles,
Raise your arms to greet the sun,
Glorious New Year, to EVERYONE!
Also these responses she made which are wonderful:
Science says winter solstice is the longest night of the year. The next day? Sun lasts a bit longer and longer each day until summer solstice, when its the longest day, but then shrinks down each day til today, next year. Is it so bad to celebrate these amazing events that god made ??
**and**
Paganism is celebrating life, death, light, darkness, the creation of earth and its inhabitants, plants, stars, that who made us. Love and kindness and giving. That which is deep within all our hearts.
Not found in any book. Tho some may indeed find their heart gift there.
