Ok… so the girl at the bookstore recommended this to me as a great horror story.  This is not, IMHO, a horror story.  It is a ghost story.  Overall it was an interesting story but a little heavy on the background and light on the graphic details for my taste.  It’s in the style of a southern gothic, which is not usually my thing but well written if you like that type of story.  If I had to compare this to anything else I’ve read it would have to be to something by Anne Rice minus the gore.  It took me a bit longer than the usual to get through 400 pages but only because I was having a hard time really sinking my teeth into it.  The characters are fairly well-developed but I felt a bit of a let down at the end… kind of left hanging.  If you like ghost stories give it a try.  If you want something that cuts to the chase and keeps the blood coming ever other page you’ll probably want to pass this one over.
